total money makeover

so i'm reading a book right now called "Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey. i am almost finished with it. This guy totally takes you through a realistic approach to being debt free and accumulating wealth. it is not a get rich quick scheme book. On the contrary it is all basically common sense. He basically just tells you how to put common sense into action and breaks down a lot of myths related to finances. He also adds good percentages of where your money should be going. the very first thing he tells you to do, even before paying off a dime of debt is save $1,000 as an emergency fund. then you design and stick to a budget. You begin to go all out attacking your debt. He also talks about the problems with interest and how if you could make do for a few years and save money then you could by your house in cash and ultimately pay under half or a third of what you would have paid after interest. places like sears he says make more money on interest than on their actual products. I would recommend this book to anyone, in debt or not, because everyone will deal with money in their life and this is a good, easy to understand, common sense, realistic book about finances.
